Bio
Jim is a Shareholder in the firm's land use, real estate and litigation groups. His practice is unusual in that it includes traditional transactional elements as well as litigation. The cases Jim's litigation practice encompass always contain a real estate component, from eminent domain to certiorari proceedings challenging the quasi-judicial determinations of city councils and boards of county commissioners. The variety in Jim's practice is both challenging and rewarding.
Between receiving his undergraduate and law degrees, Jim was a practicing civil engineer with a national environmental consulting firm which specialized in closing former military bases for the Department of Defense. Jim is still a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. Before commencing his legal career with Otten Johnson, Jim was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Gregory Hobbs of the Colorado Supreme Court.
