    Bio

Munsey is a shareholder of Otten Johnson. He practices in the firm's land use, real estate and litigation groups, and serves on the firm's technology and executive committees.

Munsey has significant real estate, land use and municipal law experience, in both transactional and litigation contexts, representing primarily private sector clients in the following substantive areas: annexation; zoning; subdivision; vested property rights; development agreements; urban renewal, tax sharing, public improvement fee and other forms of public/private financing mechanisms; siting and development of alternate and renewable energy facilities; and the acquisition, entitlement, development and disposition of residential, commercial and mixed use projects in urban, suburban, rural and resort areas.

As is the case with many attorneys at Otten Johnson, Munsey's legal experience is supplemented by significant experience in other fields. For over a decade (including during law school), Munsey was president of an aircraft maintenance company, prior to which he also worked in property management and building materials distribution. As a consumer of legal services in those contexts, Munsey developed an impatience for expensive memoranda that can be summed up with the phrase "it depends." He also developed an appreciation for attorneys who understand the client's objectives and are capable of distinguishing what is useful in achieving those objectives from what is not. Munsey tries to be the kind of attorney that he liked to hire before he was an attorney.
